The OP Thunder travel basketball program is a go for the 2021-2022 season. The plan is to field Boys teams at each grade level from 3rd through 8th. We will also field two Girls teams, and pull from grades 5th through 8th. You must register your child at www.opyba.org to attend tryouts, but there is no fee or cost to tryout. The tryouts start on October 11th, and all tryouts will be held at the new Orchard Park Community Center, 4600 California Road, Orchard Park, NY. Masks will be required at all times, except for the kids when they are on the court. Please only attend the tryout for the grade level that your child is in. During tryouts, there will be a Parent Information Session in a meeting room within the Community Center. There will be information on the program and the plan for each team.
Registration for tryouts will be open tomorrow Friday Oct 1st! You MUST register your child for tryouts before you can attend one. Very Important! MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR OWN BASKETBALL. ALSO, MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL PEOPLE. The kids should be ok to take them off while on the court though.
Below is the initial schedule. We will have one more round of tryouts and will send that schedule out soon. It dies not cost anything for open gyms or tryouts. If you make a team, then you will be prompted to go back into the site and pay.
OPEN GYMS (not officially a tryout. Just some time to get the kinks out, ask some questions, meet the coaches etc)
All events for now are at Orchard Park Community Center at 4600 California Rd. Use front doors. I will be doing a parents meeting during each tryout on Monday the 11th. I will be filling you in on the plan for our teams, commitment level, cost etc.
